Rostov hippodrome - one of the oldest in the south, on the outskirts of the former Balabanovskoy groves, on the spot where now stands the plant Rosselmash .
Officially it was opened in 1902. At this point there began testing the best breeding stock owned by Don breeders and lovers of horse racing.
The first races were held on it in 1894. Throughout the course of its history it served as the principal arena for testing the horses bred in the North Caucasus .
At the time of breeding of thoroughbred horses was a little bit : for example, in 1908, has been tested 132 horses, and in 1909 - 162 1910 - 153, and in 1919, the last before the occupation of Rostov by the Red Army , was tested 172 head, but these horses belonged not only breeders in southern Russia.
Today, Rostov hippodrome is the first private race track in Russia.
Races are held every Sunday, rain or shine.
Hippodrome is a modern two-tiered platform for 5000 seats, situated along the home straight racing track. Work at the racetrack 54 offices .
The racecourse has a hotel .
