Syurreyskaya fortress

In Belbekskoy Valley is a lot of interesting monuments of ancient and medieval history of the Crimea. Among them Syureyskaya fortress on the eastern cape of Kul -breaker and the cave monastery Chelter- Koba ( Chelter - grille cob - a cave ) on the western side of the beam at the base of the middle of Cape Ai- Todor.

Syureyskoy Defensive wall of the fortress with a circular tower was built probably in the VIII century.On the eastern side of the tower were the gates, arch which is now inflicted , and the west - vylaznaya wicket . And in the wall and bottom of the tower made ​​loopholes. On the second floor of the tower at a later time , apparently , made a fortress . It was painted with frescoes, from which the fragments .

 

Syureyskaya fortress and monastery as Chelter -Koba, destroyed the Tatar-Mongols in 1299 . Around the same time and killed a large medieval town of Eski -Kerman .
