In preparing the stadium for the European Championships 2012 National Sports Complex is located on another renovation, is now larger than the previous ones. Government Decree № 1586 dated July 28, the cost of reconstruction of the National Olympic Sports Complex (Kyiv) increased to 3.006 billion hryvnia.
August 7, 2008 State Enterprise NCC Olympic signed a contract to perform work on the reconstruction of the stadium with a German architectural bureau GMP von Gerkan, Marg und Partner. This office has drafted an updated Olympic NSC , such Olympiastadion in Berlin.The peculiarity of the proposed project by the Germans - a transparent roof covering the stands in the rain. It is made of a special tent covering membrane , which gives an additional advantage to the grass turf.
During the European Football Championship 2012 to be held in Ukraine and Poland , the stadium must undergo the planned three group matches , one quarter-finals and finals of European Football Championship .
