September 11, 2009 Patriarch of All Russia, Kirill attended the unveiling of Nizhny Novgorod - participants of liquidation of the Chernobyl accident .The monument consists of a six-foot angel figure , mounted on three-meter pedestal , surrounded by granite slabs engraved with quotes on them from the Scriptures and the names of the dead.The monument was erected in the alley in front of the cathedral , in place the foundation stone , which was consecrated 10 years ago, Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas Metropolitan Nicholas ( Kutepov ). The process of making the monument took the Novgorod diocese .Installation of the monument of Nizhny Novgorod , who died in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident , ended September 5, 2009 .
