Transfiguration ( Karpovskaya ) Church - Orthodox Church in Nizhny Novgorod.
The initial appearance before our time has preserved only the bell tower . It is a spire composition of the quadrangle , and two octagon . Log into the belfry is decorated with a decorative arch carinate .The first tier of the bell tower completes the triangular pediment . Cornice is marked with a carved decorative belt , and the tympanum - a raised arch .
At the beginning of the XX century have been re- painted the interiors of the temple - the drawings of Mikhail Nesterov and VM Vasnetsov.
After the October Revolution of 1917 the church was Karpovskaya one of the few uncovered churches in Nizhny Novgorod. The church operated until 1941 when it was closed for nonpayment of taxes rayfinotdelu city. By this time the city was not a single existing church.
During the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet government has relaxed its attitude toward the Church. Across the country began to open churches. April 14, 1943 City council passed a church in Karpovka church community . He was appointed a priest and served the three services : 11, 12 and 13 June.But in the night from 13 to 14 June there was a raid by enemy aircraft. Killed five people in the community , affected the church.
19 July 1944, after overhaul, Karpovskaya church was reopened . In the parish church there were 2000 members.
