Holy Trinity St. Sergius seaside desert - an Orthodox monastery in the village of Strelna, now in the city of St. Petersburg. Year of foundation -1734 - d . Prior to 1918, had a first-class status of the monastery. From 1819 until 1834 was administered by vicars of the bishops Petersburg Revel .

 

From 1915 until the end of 1918 was rector , Archimandrite Sergius ( Druzhinin) (later Bishop ) from early 1919 until his death in January, 1930 - Superior Joasaph ( Merkulov ) prior to the close of the last - Archimandrite Ignatius (Egorov .)

 

Before the revolution in the monastery , which had a capital of 350 thousand rubles ., There were seven churches and lived about 100 monks , of whom selected a long tradition of ship priests for the Russian navy .

 

In 1931, the desert was closed, the inhabitants into exile , the monastery's cemetery destroyed.At last, since the time of Catherine the Great , like the cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery , Don, and Simonov Monastery in Moscow , buried their dead from the noblest of noble families: Apraksin , Durasova , Myatlev , Stroganoff , and many others . Here were buried by architects A. M. , and A. Gornostaev Stakenschneider .Holy Trinity- Sergius Hermitage was severely damaged in the 1930's , as well as during the Great Patriotic War.

 

Desert was reopened in 1993.
