Romanovsky museum is located in the center of Kostroma in the two-story building in the Russian style. The building is one of the most famous built specifically for the museum buildings in the provincial cities of Russia. It was conceived in the late XIX century as a museum. At its opening ceremony was attended by the Russian Emperor Nicholas II.A large part of the museum exhibits on the theme of history of the Romanov dynasty , which was reflected in its title.
