A radio telescope UTR-2 (Ukrainian T-shaped radio telescope , the second option) , owned by Institute of Radio Astronomy of NASU , Kharkov , which was built about 40 years ago at the initiative of Academician S. J. Braude (1911 - 2003).This unique tool works in the decameter radio waves ( frequency from 10 MHz to 30 MHz ) and has an effective area velechezni - about 150 000 sq. km. m , which makes it a record sensitivity .
By now it is an effective tool for studies of cosmic radiation in the wavelength region most of the electromagnetic spectrum , which is available for observations from the ground.
On the basis of the radio telescope UTR-2 established a system of interferometers URAN (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of the radio interferometer ), which, besides high sensitivity, resolution also provides a record - up to 1 arcsec .The system consists of radio telescopes UTR-2 , URAN- 1 and URAN -4 ( Institute of Radio Astronomy NASU), Uranium -2 (Poltava Gravimetric Observatory of Institute of Geophysics NASU), Uranium -3 ( Physico-Mechanical Institute of NASU , Lviv) .
