The Royal Palace in Madrid , also known as the Palacio de Oriente , is the official residence of the King of Spain in Madrid , the palace is only used for state ceremonies .

The palace is owned by the Spanish state and a national treasure.

The palace is located on Bailén- Street, in the western part of central Madrid , just east of the River Manzanares , accessible from the Metro Opera. The palace is partially open to the public , except when used for official purposes.

A huge palace is richly decorated with works by artists such as Velázquez , Tiepolo, Mengs , Gasparini, Juan de Flandes , Caravaggio and Goya. It contains the Royal Collection , which has great historical significance , including the Royal Armoury and weapons from the 13th century, as well as collections of tapestry, porcelain, furniture and other items.
