The history of the university dates back to September 18, 1918 . During its existence it has given a start in life to tens of thousands of young people.Among its graduates are many talented engineers, scientists, heads of scientific organizations , universities , public and political figures .
Today the university is the largest training center for personnel with higher education in the South of Ukraine.Odessa National Polytechnic University - one of fourteen universities of Ukraine , adopted by the European Universities Association , and one of four universities in Ukraine - members of the International Association of Universities.
On the basis of our university created an educational complex Polytechnic University , which combines high schools , high schools, colleges, technical schools of Odessa and the Southern region of the country. The complex has about 20 000 students , interns , graduate and doctoral students, employs about 4000 teachers, researchers , engineers and technical workers.There are 57 academicians and corresponding members of the state and branch academies of sciences of Ukraine, more than 120 professors and doctors, nearly 450 professors and PhDs , 21 Honoured Scientist of Ukraine , honored worker of education of Ukraine , 13 academicians of international academies.Training is carried out by multistage system: Bachelor, Specialist , Master and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) and Ph.D. (Doctor of scienceis)). The Odessa National Polytechnic University comprises 11 institutions, two faculties, 62 departments , technical school and college .
The University has a long (more than 40 years) experience of training with higher education to foreign countries. More than 102 countries around the world have professionals trained in our university .The University has a special institute where the training of foreign citizens for further study at university and other higher educational institutions of Ukraine and Odessa .
The social infrastructure of the university - this campus with dormitories for 5000 seats , a sanatorium , a wellness center gull on the shore of the Black Sea , a sports complex and the Palace of Culture , a complex of canteens , cafes, cafeterias , student health center , equipped with modern diagnostic and medical equipment.

In ninety university's history there were many difficulties, especially difficult was the last decade of XX century in a period of profound change in public life.
