City arsenal belonged to the castle walls of Lviv, the remnants of which are visible from the street Arsenal .The building is made of stone arsenal , two-story , rectangular , with a small octagonal tower on the north side . According to the research and excavations in the 1970s , the tower and walls of the first floor have a long-standing origin and have been built, apparently , in the XIV century.
In the XVIII century in the basement of the Lviv city arsenal held captive Ukrainian Cossacks and Gaydamak. In one of the casemates was a torture chamber and housing of urban executioner.
During the Swedish invasion in 1704, the arsenal was destroyed, but two years later rebuilt again . The modern restoration was carried out in 1979-1981.
