Kon-Tiki - a world famous raft. In 1947 a young Norwegian scientist Thor Heyerdahl and his five friends sailed for 101 days on this raft on the Pacific coast of Callao ( Peru ) to the island Raroyya ( Polynesia ). In addition to the raft, there are other exhibits Heyerdalom obtained by visiting Easter Island.The museum also presents papyrus boat Ra II, on which Heyerdahl crossed the Atlantic in 1970

 

The museum presents the court , and objects used during all the expeditions of Thor Heyerdahl - Kon-Tiki , Fatu Hiva , and Ra and Ra II, Tigris , and the trip to Easter Island .In addition , the museum has a special room for temporary exhibitions. Part of the exhibition - 30 -meter cave - built exhibition in the likeness of the caves on Easter Island.The underwater part of the museum depicts a scene from an expedition on the raft Kon- Tiki raft when a fish darted various kinds , including the largest representative of the fish fauna - the whale shark . Also, the museum has a cinema and a gift shop.

 

  • The museum is open year-round seven days a week , except December 25 December 31 January 1, 17 May ( Constitution Day of Norway).
  • The entrance ticket costs 60 euros for adults and 25 euros for children aged 5 years and there are discounts for students, senior citizens , school classes and groups.
  • To get to the museum can be by ferry or by bus number 30 departs every 15 minutes from downtown.
