The Russian State Museum of Arctic and Antarctic - the museum in St. Petersburg. Founded in 1930 as a special department of the All-Union Arctic Institute. After the reconstruction in 1937, the Arctic and Antarctic Museum opens to the public.His current exhibition consists of three sections: the nature of Arctic research and exploration history of the Northern Sea Route , Antarctica.
The museum tours are devoted to nature and research in the Arctic and Antarctic, the history of discovery and development of the Northern Sea Route.The exhibition includes personal funds research , equipment, missions, unique instruments , model ships, dioramas. Among the exhibits - the ice reconnaissance plane SH-2 , the steering wheel and a model of the icebreaker Taymyr lifebuoy from the ship Chelyuskin model first Russian icebreaker Ermak.
