Opened February 24, 2005 . The museum is located on one of the oldest streets in the center of Rostov -on- Don, in the former mansion of the merchant S. Yablokov .
The museum deals with the formation and storage of collections of contemporary art .Primarily focused on the gathering, representation , promotion of contemporary art objects in a variety of their genre- specific forms that are created today in Russia.
The collection includes paintings, drawings , decorative arts ( 1930-2006 gg.) .Exhibition projects - Province , New Names , North road , two of the capital. The museum has an archive, science library, Arts Council , the expert group , restoration workshop . The museum has about 1,800 items.
