Summer Palace of Peter I - the name preserved to our days in its original form the residence of Peter I. Located in the Summer Garden (St. Petersburg).
The Summer Palace was built in Baroque style by Domenico Trezzini project in 1710-1714 , respectively. This is one of the oldest buildings in the city .A two-storey palace is modest and consists of only 14 rooms .
The facade of the palace is decorated with bas-reliefs of the 28th , which allegorically depicts the events of the Northern War . The bas-reliefs executed by a German architect and sculptor Andreas Schlüter .
The residence was intended for use only during the warmer months - May to October , so the walls are thin enough in it , and in the windows - single frame. Interior decoration was created by artists Alexander Zakharov , IV Zavarzin , F. Matveev.
Peter drove into the partially finished palace in 1712 and lived there until his death in summer (1725).He has held a ground floor and second floor were for Catherine.
Since 1934, the palace is open everyday Historical Museum, is now a branch of the Russian Museum.
