Layntser Tiergarten - Reserve , located on the south-west of Vienna. It has an area of 24.50 km ², approximately 80% of which is covered by forest . Founded in 1561 as a fenced hunting area for the family of Ferdinand I. Since 1919 , Layntser Tiergarten open to public access.
The name comes from Lainz - area inside Hietzing , 13th administrative district of Vienna, and the Tiergarten, which means the zoo. However, Layntser Tiergarten zoo is not in the usual sense of the word.
Most of the reserve is located in Hietzing within the Viennese, but a small part belongs to the Lab im Walde , Lower Austria .
