Heldenplatz , Heroes' Square - the historic square in Vienna. The most famous area acquired after a speech by Adolf Hitler March 15, 1938 , proclaimed from the balcony of the New Castle Anschluss of Austria and the Third Reich.
is the exterior of the palace Heldenplatz area of residence of the Hofburg.The square was built by Emperor Franz Joseph as part of the huge Imperial Roman Forum in the manner that was never built. The area used for military parades.
In the middle of the square are monuments to two famous generals - Prince Eugene of Savoy and Archduke Charles.The statues made of bronze ( 1860 and 1865. Respectively ) Anton Dominique Fernkornom .
In 2008 the area was conducted Heldenplatz event in commemoration of the Nazi regime , honoring the 70th anniversary of the Anschluss, which was sparked 80 000 candles.
