Academician Konstantin Korovin (1861 - 1939) was an outstanding representative of the impressionist painter of Russian painting and the chief designer for the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
is famous for its paintings with views of Yalta , Gurzuf , Sevastopol, Bakhchisarai. With much love he depicted Paris and Marseille, Nice and Venice .Under the guidance and with the participation of Korovin created the scenery for the ballet and opera by Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rimsky- Korsakov and other composers.
In 1910, Korovin constructed in Gurzuf villa Salammbo , which came Russian writers , artists : Ilya Repin, Maxim Gorky, Alexander Kuprin , FIShalyapin .For Chaliapin he made suit of Ivan the Terrible , in which he played in the opera by Rimsky- Korsakov's The Maid of Pskov .
