House of Organ and Chamber Music - Lviv cultural institution , founded in 1960 year. A former church and convent of St. Mary Magdalene.
The building rimokatolicheskogo church of St. Mary Magdalene was built between 1600 and 1612 years of Dominican monks outside the city walls to the south of the city walls of Lviv, in place of the old wooden church.Was built next to the seminary and the cell of the monastery. The authors of the project were the architects and J. A. Kelarev fit . Construction was completed in 1635.
In 1648, the monastery building , as well as the nearby Monastery of St. Lazarus, the captured troops of Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
Later, the building has repeatedly been subjected to changes.In 1754-1758 , the church expanded and rebuilt the architect M. Urbanik, have changed the facades , the tower completed . During sekulyarizatsionnoy reform of Austrian Emperor Joseph II in 1786, the church made a parish and the monastery was founded a prison for women of easy virtue (closed in 1922).
The present appearance of the church purchased in 1870.Construction is trehnavnoy shestistolbnoy basilica with an apse and choir elongated , which are covered with cross vaults. The architecture of the buildings are connected elements of Baroque and Renaissance.
In 1932 there was established in the Czech Republic made body of firm Rieger-Kloss. It is the biggest in Ukraine.
In 1962 the building housed the church for a while a sports hall and the building was transferred to the cells using the Lviv Polytechnics .
In 1998 the building again, there are Roman Catholic services . The Roman Catholic Community of St. Mary Magdalene wants a complete transfer of the building in their hands .
