Burgos Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de Burgos) - cathedral, the gothic and located in the city of Burgos, Spain .

It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is known for its vast size and unique architecture. Its construction began in 1221.

 

are stored in the cathedral works by artists , architects and sculptors of the Colonna family (Huang , Simon and Francisco), Gilles de Siloe sculptors , Felipe Vigarni , sculptor and architect Diego de Siloe , painter Sebastiano del Piombo ( Holy Family ) and many others.

 

The cathedral was declared a World Heritage Site October 31, 1984 .

The main facade of the cathedral , most of which was built in the XIII century , is oriented to the west and is dedicated to the Virgin. The most ancient facade - South (1230 's) , a sculptural form on it depicts Christ surrounded by apostles and angels. The eastern apse were built during the Renaissance ( in XV-XVI centuries ).

 

Burgos cathedral has a cruciform layout, with 106 meters wide and nefoy passage. The passage is almost hidden from external view.

 

The magnificent octagonal Chapel Condestable has a Gothic Flamboyant, decorated with ornaments, angels and heraldry .The chapel was intended for the tomb of Pedro Fernandez de Velasco , Count of Haro and his family.
