Английский памятник Балаклавскому сражению The famous Battle of Balaklava took place on October 25, 1854 . The most tragic part of it - the attack of Lord Cardigan of the Light Brigade . It became a textbook , not only in British literature. The official statistics says that before the attack began , the brigade numbered 673 .Loss of the Light Brigade in the attack amounted to 102 killed ( including 9 officers) , 129 wounded ( including 11 officers) and 58 prisoners ( including two officers ) and officers were almost all wounded. Later, 16 more people died from wounds, nine of them - in Russian captivity . Thus, a total of 118 people were killed .

 

In the center of the valley of Balaklava in 1856, the British erected a monument - a small obelisk of marble-like limestone with an inscription in English and Russian : \

In 1998 it was reconstructed again .

 

In 1945, Death Valley at Balaklava visited Prime Minister Winston Churchill of Great Britain . His visit was not official .

The purpose of visiting this place had a few moments of silence and bow to the place where, among many Britons killed his close relative of the Duke of Marlborough.
