Ternopolskaya oblast

Ternopil region , an agricultural region in western Ukraine, was founded December 4, 1939 until August 9, 1944 was called Tarnopolsky region (the center - the city of Tarnopol) .

It is located in the eastern part of Galicia, the western part of Podolia and Volhynia south .

Its area is 13.8 thousand square meters. km (2.3% of the territory of Ukraine).Population - 1163.9 thousand people ( 2.3% of Ukraine's population ), including urban - 44 %, agriculture - 56%. Population density - 84.3 persons per square kilometer. km . The territory of the Ternopil region, together with Lviv and Ivano- Frankivsk, is part of the historical region of Galicia .This region was part of Kievan Rus, Galich and Galich- Volyn principality, while starting from the XIV century was part of Poland, Rzeczpospolita (1349-1772) , Austria (1772-1918) , Russia ( 1809-1815 ).

In the civil war and the Polish intervention Ternopil region became part of Poland. In 1939,along the western Ukraine was reunited with the Ukrainian SSR.

 

The economy of the area of industry and agriculture. It specializes in manufacturing agricultural machinery , sugar and electrical industries , in agriculture - to grain farming and cattle breeding .

The first place in terms of industrial production in the region is food processing. Among the dozens of major companies in the region in terms of production for almost half the list are sugar factories. Second place in the production of marketable products has engineering and metalworking.

In addition, there developed in meat dairy cattle .
