Lvovskaya oblast
Lviv region - cross-border region located in western Ukraine in the neighborhood of Poland. Was established December 4, 1939 . In the years 1254-1325 the area was known as Galicia Russian kingdom or the Russian land .
In 1386, Queen Jadwiga of Poland annexed the kingdom to Russian Poland.After the third partition of Poland, the territory became part of the Austrian Empire.
. Eastern Galicia was the center of national formation of the Ukrainian people in 1848-1849.
After the collapse of the Austro -Hungarian lands of Lviv in November 1918 became part of the West Ukrainian People's Republic of (ZUNR ). In autumn 1920Eastern Galicia went to Poland, and until 1939 was part of the Lviv province of Poland.
December 4, 1939 in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Aggression between Germany and the Soviet Union, the territory of the region passed to the Soviet Union and became part of the Ukrainian SSR.
Today this industrially developed region of Ukraine.Here are explored deposits of gas, oil , coal , developed in part the Lvov- Volyn coal basin in the north , oil shale , potash and rock salt , sulfur, gypsum , construction and refractory clay , marl and limestone .
