Belaya Tserkov
White Church , an ancient Ukrainian city , located in the heart of Ukraine to the south- west of Kiev region, on both sides of the river Ros , 84 km from the capital.
It was founded on the site of the destroyed ancient city of St. George, which was built as a castle to protect against Pechenegs in 1032 at the time of Yaroslav the Wise and destroyed in 1240godu during the Mongol- Tatar invasion.
C 1363goda city was part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from 1569 city moved to Poland.In 1596, near White Church there was a battle in which the Polish army was defeated by the Cossacks Severin Nalivaiko. In 1651 after the battle here was signed between Poland and the rebels Ukrainian Cossacks led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky . At the end of XVI century, the city received a Magdeburg right .
The White Church is agricultural university, museum , two dramatic theater, the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, Church Mikilskaya (built in 1706 ), Ivan Baptist Church , Church of St. John the Baptist, shopping arcade (built in the early XIX century ) and the most large arboretum in Ukraine Alexandria ( arboretum )which was founded in 1797 as a court of Count Branicki park and occupies 200 hectares of land ,
In 1712 the city was returned to Poland. In 1774, the last Polish king Stanislaw August in the town passes the gift of corona Hetman Francis Xavier - Branicki .
After the second partition of Poland in [[ 1793 ] the town became part of the Russian Empire. In XIX century the Church has become a significant white county town .It was created on the basis of natural oak forests in the English romantic style. The beauty of the park was fascinated by Gabriel Derzhavin, Alexander Pushkin, Taras Shevchenko, Adam Mickiewicz, the members of the royal family and the Decembrists.
